mamaracha  is obviously going for the record, and has posted two flame-throwing posts back to back:

I think that many hundreds of angry and irritated posts notwithstanding, this all boils down to the same thing: parents like to think that they have the best plan, that they know what is best for the children, and that they are in control. Children, however, have plans of their own. Some start early by turning into a breached position two days before a long-planned for "natural" home birth with a doula, forcing the mother into an OR and a C-section. Some take their time and strike back by dropping out of Wharton Business School, joining a commune and chaining themselves to the fence of the IMF in protest of globalization.

Parents, please remember: God only knows, God makes his plan. The information's not available to the mortal man. ... We think we're gliding down the highway, when in fact we're slip sliding away.

Мне вот интересно, я никогда не чувствовала что я знаю как лучше, ни когда они были меньше, ни тем более сейчас, когда они намного старше. Все что могла-делала, но твердой уверенности что все повернется так как мне хочется, не было. Надежда была (да и сейчас есть). Делает ли это меня плохим родителем-не знаю.

Мы все делаем, что можем, естественно, но все-таки в конечном итоге от нас так мало зависит. Я всегда говорю своим детям, что удел родителей быть Кассандрами: мы-то, может, и знаем как будет наперед, но дети врядли внимут предупреждениям. По-моему, родителям невредно осознать весьма рано, что они могут (водить на кружки,в театры, заставлять заниматься и проч.), а чего не могут (сделать из детей солистов или успешных врачей/адвокатов, да и просто отличников). И, господи, как часты случаи, что из тех, кому надо бы было быть пианистом старались сделать врача, и наоборот. А еще чаще: из тех, кому ни то ни другое не светило, старались создать оба варианта.
