Sanders beats Clinton, all the while proudly proclaiming that he is a Socialist.

H.L. Mencken clarifies the situation:

"A Socialist, carrying a red flag, marched through the gates of Heaven. "To hell with the rank!", he shouted, "All men are equal here". Just then Karl Marx turned a corner and came into view. At once, the Socialist fell to his knees and touched his forehead to the dust. "O, Master!", he cried, "Oh, Master, Master, Master!"

Donald Trump trumps all at New Hampshire and many think his nomination is inevitable.

H.L. Mencken makes sense once and for all:

"Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard"

I love American satirists of previous generations. Mark Twain, Ambrose Bierce, H.L. Mencken - it looks like I will be reading them a lot during this crazy election cycle. There will be more quotes, I am sure.

2nd quote might as well apply to the 1st candidate (Bernie)

I think, it applies to every candidate in every election. And since we are in the quotation mode, I want to bring out my favorite quote of all:

"The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with an average voter"
Winston Churchill (of course)

I hesitate between two responses: "Alas!" and "Indeed!"
