She is still great, of course, but maybe I am getting a little too old for that greatness?  The house was full to capacity, and even though the front rows had many familiar faces, the rest of it was heavy downtown scene. And I have not seen so many lesbian couples under one roof since the first ever AIDS Awareness Day back in ...1990(?)

Anderson is a great and multi-faceted performer: she sings, she plays several instruments, she narrates, and she has written all of the material for her show.  But the show was too long, it was hard to maintain attention.  And also, and most importantly, her material is basically the same as it was 25 years ago.  It was Reagan then, it is Dubya now.  Then it was America marches into Granada, or Nicaragua, or whatever it was then.  It is America rapes Iraq now.  And not only the content is rather identical, but so is the delivery.

On the way to the car we had a little discussion with Husband Dearest:

Me: Say what you want, her performance was mesmerizing.

HD: You mean, as in hypnotizing?  As in: you are falling asleep, you are breathing deeply, your eyes are closing, you are asleep?
